A man shared a dastardly way to mess with golfers during their games: Sporadically toss marshmallows around the course.

Popular TikToker Dom (@toodirtydom) was driving around a golf course with another gentleman when he filmed the simple prank.

Dom’s partner-in-crime steers the golf cart with one hand while holding a fluffy white marshmallow in the other. Next, it becomes clear as to why he brought these gooey confections to the green. He mischievously looks at the camera before tossing the treats out of the moving cart. 

“Do you like marshmallows? I don’t think golfers are going to like this, either,” he says, cackling with delight.

He’s fully committed to the marshmallow anarchy, as there’s an entire bag of the treats on his lap—right at his disposal.

“F— ‘em all,” he says, referencing the other golfers who are probably going to be very displeased to come upon the treats during their playthroughs.

Why Sprinkle Marshmallows On A Golf Course?

Depending on how much you like golf, this could be seen as a sadistic practice. The marshmallow’s appearance resembles white golf balls—especially from a distance. Imagine cracking your pearly polymer sphere on your first tee-off of the day. You walk across the lawn thinking you’ve spotted your ball, only to come up on it and reveal that it’s actually a marshmallow.

Initially, you might believe this is just an anomaly. Maybe some guy brought a snack to the field and dropped one of his goodies. You scan the grass and clock your ball a few dozen yards away. So you walk up to it, surprised that you hit your ball further than originally anticipated. Then, to your horror, you discover that it’s yet another marshmallow.

It’s only at this moment it dawns on you: Everywhere you look, there are marshmallows sprinkled about the golf course. And you’re stuck in the middle of the chaos, realizing that your relaxing day has just been ruined by a marshmallow anarchist.

Marshmallow Menaces

As it turns out, Dom’s video isn’t the first person to think of this prank. In 2021, one Reddit user complained about “A——- tossing marshmallows all over the course.”

They gave insights into what it feels like to be on the receiving end of such deception. As angry as they seemed to be about the prank, they did seem to have some appreciation for whoever came up with the idea. “Has anyone else seen this? I’m in Western PA and I’ve seen it a few times. I mean, kudos to whoever thought of this, because it’s a very effective way to mess with golfers. It makes it impossible to find your ball,” they wrote. 

One golfer who responded also seemed to find the gag amusing, even though it was done to them. “Played in a greenskeeper’s revenge tournament last month. And there were hundreds of marshmallows on the course. Funny as f— lol,” they commented. 

Furthermore, The Golf Blogger discussed their own encounter with “marshmallows on the course” during a game back in 2011. They referred to it as “a pretty good prank.” “It’s amazing how much a marshmallow looks like a golf ball on a bright day from ten yards away. The next hole, also a bit of a blind dogleg again was decorated with marshmallow decoys…that outing was no doubt having a good time,” they penned.

Good Sports

Dom’s video has a whopping 6.7 million views. Viewers similarly found the prank to be harmless. One said, “Now this is what free will was made for.”

Many compared the prankster to Jim Carrey. “It’s giving Jim Carrey now retired and just spreading chaos. Love it,” another viewer wrote. 

“It’s giving ‘Jury duty, jury duty, black mail, chain letter, pink slip, eviction notice..'” a third said, referencing Carrey’s portrayal of the Grinch. 

Even brands got in on the action.

Dude Wipes commented, “Some people just wanna watch the world burn.”

Jimmy John’s said, “Now this is what free will was made for.”

And lastly, Pringles wrote, “I love harmless pranks.”
