Have you ever wondered what happens to the mountain of items that end up in the lost and found at massive theme parks like Disneyland and Disney World? With thousands of people passing through their gates every day, there are so many items lost in the parks that they eventually have to do something with all of them.
According to the New York Post, the theme parks donate most of the lost-and-found items to local charities and second-hand shops once they have gone unclaimed for three months.
Another thing parks like Disneyland do with all of those lost and found items is host an annual sale in partnership with the Goodwill of Orange County Marketplace. This sale typically happens in the month of August.
One Disney fan, @magicalsoulfoodie on TikTok, shared a video of the annual Disneyland lost and found sale. In it they revealed items like portable chargers, stuffed animals, sunglasses, lanyards, pins, suitcases, coffee makers, blow dryers, curling irons, tons of clothes, and a price list.
“This is one day annual event,” they wrote. “All unsold items goes to your local stores. Tag me if you find! This event was so unique and mind blowing.”

At Disney World in Florida, a similar event takes place around every three months. The items that don’t get sold during those sales go to the Boys and Girls Club of Central Florida.
In the comments section of @magicalsoulfoodie’s TikTok video, multiple people attested to the kinds of deals (and resulting stories) they discovered at Disney’s lost and found sales.
“I went last year and bought a custom backpack. Wound up selling it back to its original owner,” one person wrote.
“My daughter picked up about a dozen sunglasses that are 2-3 hundred dollar range,” another viewer commented.
So if you’re looking for a hot deal on random things like champagne glasses, paper towel holders, sneakers, handbags, backpacks, or Mickey Mouse ears, keep an eye out on online for Disney’s lost and found sales. Unfortunately, as one person put it, the lines at the sales are almost as long as the lines to get on rides at the parks, so bring a lot of patience with you when you shop.
