‘We All Know’: Arizona Beverage Cart Girl Calls Out Male Golfers For What They Do With Their Towels. Here’s Why

People are split after a Phoenix, Arizona-based beverage cart worker called out golfers for being sneaky with their drinks.

In a viral video with more than 820,000 views, content creator and golf course beverage cart girl Morgan Middendorf (@morganmiddendorf) shares something she’s been noticing. And it’s bad for her business.

“This is a message for golfers, specifically male golfers, from cart girls because we all know,” Middendorf says.

She pulls out a small microfiber towel and says that when golfers have one of these draped over their cups or cup holder section, she and fellow golf cart workers clock it.

“We know why, just so you know,” Middendorf says with a smirk.

What’s The Problem?

Middendorf seems to be alluding to the fact that, instead of buying a drink from the beverage cart person, some golfers will sneak in their own beers and alcoholic drinks to avoid the golf course prices.

Similar to an airport or high-end bar, drinks will be overpriced. That’s just the name of the game when you’re in a place with a monopoly on food and drinks.

At a golf course, a beer that would normally run you $4 may be upwards of $7 a pop.

In a blog post, Tyler Jones, director of golf at Poppy Hills Golf, shared that pricing is more of an issue for their daily fee players and members, not so much those who just come in for tournaments.

What Does A Golf Beverage Cart Person Do?

While not all beverage cart workers are women, there’s a growing niche on TikTok where “cart girls” chronicle their day-to-day on the golf course.

The role primarily involves driving a stocked golf cart around the course, offering drinks such as water, Gatorade, beer, and basic cocktails to golfers during the game. It’s part mobile bartender, part customer service rep—with a generous side of charm.

In these “day in the life” videos, creators often reveal how much they make in tips. Some golfers hand over a single dollar, while others drop $10s, $20s, or occasionally go all out with $50 or $100 bills.

Alongside earnings numbers, they share behind-the-scenes moments—from dealing with inappropriate comments to dressing up for holidays in hopes of boosting tips. The videos strike a balance of glamour, hustle, and candid talk about the emotional labor that sometimes accompanies the job.

But What About Bugs?

People had mixed reactions to Middendorf’s callout. Some noted that they are guilty of bringing in their own drinks to save on cost. Others said they cover their drinks for a more practical reason.

“To keep bugs from flying in the 12 dollar drink you charged us,” a top comment read.

“Actually you really don’t know. I buy from the cart girls consistently and I put my towel over the drink for two reasons. One it keeps the flies out of my drink and two it keeps the drink cooler longer. Don’t lump everyone together. Clearly you don’t know!!” a person said.

“Cheap skates at the golf course! No bring ins!” another wrote.
