Tennis star Ben Shelton has been moving right along through the field at Wimbledon. The 22-year-old American is off to a perfect 3-0 start to become one of the final 16 competitors at the event.
He referenced a good luck charm while addressing the crowd following his most recent win. Ben Shelton gave his sister a much deserved shoutout for making the trip to watch.
The moment came after a win over Marton Fucsovics that booked his ticket to the fourth-round. His sister, Emma, was able to see that victory in person.
At 22 years old, Ben Shelton becomes the youngest American man to make three Major Round of 16 appearances in a year since Andy Roddick in 2004

“I’ve been playing well this week,” he said. “It’s not just been me here. I have a great team. My parents are here. My girlfriend is here. Also, my sister’s here. She’s been here for every match that I’ve played this tournament so far. She’s been the lucky charm.”
Unfortunately, Shelton was nervous about that luck running out. Emma was set to leave the tournament to return to her job at investment banker Morgan Stanley. That is, until he made a public plea!
“She has to work back in the US starting on Monday,” he continued. “She works for Morgan Stanley. If any of you have some connections and get her a couple of extra days off, we can keep this thing rolling.”
Boo birds rained down from the stands as Ben Shelton referenced his sister’s employer. The loudest supporter of extended PTO was Shelton’s girlfriend, US Soccer star Trinity Rodman.

Rodman, who scored three goals at the Paris Olympics last summer, was seen throwing two huge thumbs down amid boos from the Wimbledon crowd. She was leading the charge in Emma Shelton’s PTO ask.
As it turns out, those pleas worked! Ben Shelton posted an update on social media showing Morgan Stanley’s decision to extend his sister’s paid time off. She’ll be able to stick around a bit longer in the UK.

Emma Shelton, like her brother, was once a tennis star. She played for both South Carolina and Florida at the NCAA level. She’s since moved onto life after sports.
She’ll be able to put her professional obligations on a brief pause thanks to Ben Shelton’s request. She might also have Trinity Rodman to thank for being in her corner.
