Longtime Fox Sports NFL studio analyst Terry Bradshaw ribbed his employer over the massive contract they gave legendary NFL QB Tom Brady to be their #1 color commentator. Brady signed a 10 year, $375 million deal with Fox in 2022.
Terry Bradshaw, the 76 year old four-time Super Bowl winning quarterback of the Pittsburgh Steelers, has been a co-host of Fox’s NFL pregame and postgame show Fox NFL Sunday since 1994.
During an interview with the To The Point Home Services podcast, Bradshaw was talking about the viewership of Super Bowl LIX and made a joke about asking for a raise.
According to Bradshaw, if the Fox execs rebuffed his request because money is “tight,” he’d retort by pointing out that they’re paying TB12 north of $37 million per season.
“Did you see the numbers they did? The largest Super Bowl in history. 126 million people. There’s 330 million people in America. That is a ton. The Fox pregame show averaged 28 million for five hours. Who in the world is gonna sit around and watch that mess for five hours? 28 million,” Bradshaw said.
“You know how much money they made? God. More money than plumbers, I can assure you that. 28 million. And I guarantee you, if I go in there and ask for a raise, ‘Well, we don’t have any… we’re running a little tight.’ Well, you just paid Tom Brady $37 million a year. I’ll take it. I did some bad deals, that’s what it was.”
While he may have been joking, Bradshaw is clearly aware of how much money Brady is being paid, as $37 million per year is exactly how much he’s making.
Despite the longtime New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers now owning a minority stake in the Las Vegas Raiders, the 47-year-old will be returning to the Fox booth this fall and will be looking to improve on a shaky debut season that left many NFL fans unimpressed with his broadcasting skills.
