The SEC Championship game between the Alabama Crimson Tide and Georgia Bulldogs was watched all across the nation — with massive viewership numbers reflecting that.
The stakes of the game extended all the way to Washington, with members of Congress from both Alabama and Georgia making a friendly wager on some Chick-Fil-A.
With the Crimson Tide coming out on top, U.S. Reps. Nikema Williams (D-GA) and Buddy Carter (R-GA) had to treat Reps. Terri Sewell (D-Birmingham) and Robert Aderholt (R-Haleyville) to lunch.
Teaming up with @Robert_Aderholt for a bipartisan wager against @RepNikema & @RepBuddyCarter for Saturday’s UGA-Bama SEC championship! Can’t wait to enjoy a @ChickfilA lunch courtesy of our Georgia friends when Bama prevails!

“Congratulations to the Tide on their 30th SEC title!” said Rep. Sewell. “I want to thank our Georgia colleagues for being good sports and donning some Alabama apparel on the House steps. Congressman Aderholt and I can confirm; Victory really does taste better with a side of chicken!”
“After Saturday’s big win, let’s see if we can find any Michigan colleagues brave enough to bet against the Tide,” continued Sewell.
With Alabama taking on Michigan in the Rose Bowl and Texas taking on Washington in the Sugar Bowl, stay tuned for other possible wagers that could arise in D.C.
