U.S. Rep. Barry Moore (R-Enterprise) believes that his latest piece of legislation will prevent liberal states like California from putting dangerous illegal aliens, charged with certain crimes, back on American streets after being arrested.

Moore’s bill, the Jeremy and Angel Seay and Sergeant Brandon Mendoza Protect Our Communities from DUIs Act of 2025, passed the Judiciary Committee in February. Under the legislation, any alien who has been convicted or admitted to the offense of driving while drunk or impaired would be immediately deported.

The congressman was able to pass a similar bill in 2024, but it didn’t make it through the Senate.

Moore discussed the issue Tuesday on WVNN’s “The Yaffee Program.”

“And one case in Colorado on the fifth DUI, this illegal killed a mom and her 16-year-old son,” Moore explained. “And in Florida, we had a fellow on his third DUI, the Illegal killed a kindergartener. And so what happens is the immigration courts, or you know, or the courts, whoever will see these guys, and give them a slap on the wrist and put them back out in communities. And they’re repeat offenders. So if you’re here drinking and driving, you’re removable. And of course, that’s one of the things that I think will save countless lives in America.”

Moore noted that the legislation has received some bipartisan support in the past, but he now sees many Democrats opposing any type of immigration enforcement.

“This stunned me, in committee, how opposed to this they are,” he said. “Anything they can do to give an illegal immigrant a pass, they will do. And even the judges, often they’ll…often negotiate that down or plea that deal down to reckless driving, but we’re going to put teeth in the law so that the judges and the immigration [courts] have guidelines on what they’re to do with people who are drinking and driving here in this country.”

“It is an honor to be in this country. You are to treat it as a privilege. You shouldn’t be out here, breaking our laws and risking our lives.”
