Nebraska football landed its third commitment in two days on Tuesday, after three-star Larry Miles from Winter Garden, Florida, announced his pledge to the Huskers over Kentucky and Pittsburgh.
Miami was another contender, although they weren’t a factor at the end. 45 programs offered, Miles, though. The 5-foot-11, 175-pound slot receiver is ranked No. 500 overall, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings.
Miles had a breakout season in 2024, with over 1,200 yards receiving. After getting Danny Odem last week, this is the second recent commitment from Florida, which is a promising sign for the future.
Here are three thoughts on Miles and the Huskers’ 2026 class now that he’s in it.
I don’t care about Miles’ ranking; he’s going to make an early impact for the Huskers. The wide receiver room is loaded, but there isn’t as much depth in terms of true slot receivers.
Miles is more than a slot, though. He can get deep, and he’ll become a favorite of fans and quarterbacks alike. Sort of like Jacory Barney, his commitment will also be viewed much more favorably after the fact.
Nebraska football is now ranked 58th overall in the 2026 team rankings, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings.
That’s not necessarily where you want to be, but this class is going to be small. Teams like USC, Ohio State, and Michigan already have 20 commitments or more. Nebraska has 12.
The Huskers also have an abundance of young players after Matt Rhule aggressively added players to the roster in the past few classes.
Nebraska still needs to add quality players. Georgia, Ohio State, Oregon, and the like never take a class off. Yet, Rhule has proven his staff has a good eye for talent, so I’d expect some recruits to outplay their rankings.
Not all. But some. Miles will be one. This class probably can’t reach the top 25 simply due to the number of commitments or lack of them.
However, I predict a top-40 class and one that will add to the solid foundation Rhule has already put in place.
Four-star linebacker Calvin Thomas, out of Texas, could be the next to commit (July 12th or sooner). He’s ranked No. 254 overall and would be the fourth blue-chip commitment since June 23rd.
Darion Jones also has a commitment date looming on July 4th. Iowa has been trending as the favorite lately, but don’t count out Nebraska.
Some new targets might emerge during the fall, too.
Valdin Sone is one who was expected to decide in the fall. Yet, there are rumblings that he could decide soon. Some other targets will be lingering, especially as flip targets, so there is a lot of work to do.
Overall, Nebraska is in a good spot, and don’t be surprised if the next commitment comes sooner than expected.
